so i got my new job at the Bruin Online Helpdesk during the middle of last quarter. i had no idea some people could be such denses at menial tasks. for those who don't know, i sit infront of a computer all day waiting for people to call with various questions regarding the motley of software and other oncampus computing tools. it's great...until someone calls you for help saying their internet doens't work only to have to tell them to double click on the "connect" icon on their desktop. and god forbid they dont know how to double click... but in all seriousness....why would you want to spend around a grand for a hunk of machinery and code that you have no idea how to use?!?!

them: "double click?"
me: "push down twice on the left mouse button"
them: "oooh. got it. uhhhhh nothing happened. . ."
me: "click faster"

another lady that i was helping on the phone said that she tried to get dell to help/show her how to use the "cd-r burning thingy" for her computer. dell's reply? "we're just like a car dealership. they sell you the car, yet they are not responsible for your learning how to drive it."

sadly to say. . it's things like this that make my life seem less pathetic.

go to my reading page...i found that article while trying to explain dragging files from a folder onto your desktop.....
